Coaches & Champions

A "Coach" is a person who instructs, demonstrates, directs, and prompts learners. It involves the process of teaching people how to do something and encouraging them to continue to do it.

In Projek TEKAD,

A "Coach" is a caring professional who is able to facilitate groups, model and evaluate skills and support individualized learning. Coaches work from their hearts, demonstrating with their lives, their growth and through their range of emotions and depth of experience in nurturing and guiding their Champions to be a better person...

A "Coach" develops Champions and are role models, an exemplary leader, a motivator and one who inspires those around them...

A "Champion" is one who strives for success and excellence. In the eyes of the Coach, the Champion is already a winner.

Tekad Theme Song

The song "TEKAD" by Malaysian artist, Hazami is used as Projek Tekad's theme song. Its meaningful lyrics inspire Coaches and Champions in Projek Tekad to always strive forward.

Hazami is also very much part of Projek Tekad. He participated in Projek Tekad KL and Selangor and shared his personal triumphs, challenges and experiences, and what the song 'TEKAD' means to him.

TEKAD

Perjalanan kehidupan
Di kiri kanan dugaan cabaran
Keseorangan menempuh ujian
Meneruskan perjuangan

Takdir Maha Esa
Restu ayah bonda
Mencapai cita-cita
Usah putus asa
Kelak kau berjaya
Membela nasibmu
Masamu kan tiba

Keimanan keyakinan
Sinar cahaya penunjuk haluan
Walaupun payah kau harus tabah
Demi mencapai seindah impian

Jika satu ketika
Langkah tidak terdaya
Berkat doa usaha
Tuhan Maha Esa

Mencapai cita-cita

Why call it TEKAD?

"TEKAD"

Pronounced as "tay-cut" is a powerful Malay word which literally means:
  • Intention
  • Resolve
  • Determination
  • Vision
These 4 elements form the foundation for the results that we want to achieve in life. All results begin with clear intention, solid resolve, strong determination and a powerful vision.

"TEKAD DIPAHAT, WAWASAN DIJULANG, KEJAYAAN DIGENGGAM"

The motto of the project stresses upon the importance of having clear intentions and goals and upholding values and vision. Success awaits those who are steadfast in their goals and who believe in their dreams, values and vision.

About Projek Tekad

Projek Tekad is a community development project developed and organised by young professionals. The project is fully sponsored by RHB.

A unique element of Projek Tekad is the collaboration between young professionals and undergraduates of Malaysian Universities (2004-2005: Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS & International Islamic University, 2006: Universiti Sains Malaysia & Multimedia University) thus making PROJEK TEKAD the only programme in Malaysia which bridges 3 groups together, namely young professionals, undergraduates and secondary school students all within one single programme.

In the project, volunteers comprising young professionals lead in organising 2 day self-development and motivational programme for secondary school students (Form 4 or Form 5). Young professionals act as a "brother or sister" and a role model to the students in the project. Through sharing of real-life personal experiences, they inculcate positive values in the students while instilling a strong will and confidence to strive for success in life.

The 5 key components of the modules are:
